Panasonic Viera TH-42PV500A

The Panasonic Viera shows off the capabilities of the latest 8th generation plasma screens, and sports some high tech features.

Tucked away inside the guts of the screen is Panasonic’s new VIERA Colour Management System, which improves digital signal processing precision and enhances colour response. This enables the screen to display an equivalent of over 8 billion colours as well as enhancing detail and minimising noise.

A special Sub-Pixel Controller also smoothes out diagonal lines and sharp edges, removing jagged lines, and the Motion Pattern Noise Reduction improves the image quality of moving objects, which can sometimes cause noise in other plasma screens. It only has an analog tuner built-in, so you’ll probably want to invest in a high-definition set-top box to make the most of the screen.
