Before the Sony VPL-VW100, there was the Sony Qualia 004 projector. This is a no-holds-barred model. Take the lamp, for example. The VW100 uses a 400 watt model, whereas the 004 goes for a 900 watt Xenon lamp, to produce amongst the most accurate colours available.
Of course, it features a true high-definition resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels and creates the smoothest picture we’ve ever seen. The colour fidelity is equally good, thanks in part to the lamp. Even though it also uses LCoS technology (called Silicon X-tal Reflective Display by Sony), the actual panels are different models from those used in the less expensive projector.
You will need to have this projector professionally installed, because it weighs a huge 40 kilograms! It is provided with your choice from three different lenses, designed for optimum performance over different ranges. Each as a zoom range of at least 1.3:1.
