The Remington Rapid Cut Turbo hair-clipper is perfect for CONVID-convicts and their kids if you want the easiest crewcut known to man.

I bought the Remington Rapid Cut Turbo hair-clipper (below) from my meagre funds and had it contactless shipped from Shaver Shop at Tuggerah (keeping Aussies in jobs) as I was getting a bit shaggy after five weeks of lockdown.

And to be fair, I have owned the older Remington Quick Cut (below) for many years, so I am no stranger to cutting my sparse hair. The Remington Rapid Cut Turbo hair-clipper does the same but has a ‘turbo’ setting (that I probably will never use) and a 70-minute run-time (as against 40-min).

OK, the trepidation of the first cut

A few things to remember.

First, it is a crew cutter and will evenly ‘shave’ your head (beard and other parts) according to the guide comb you fit. Perhaps use a 10mm comb and then work your way down in length as you get more comfortable with it. A crew cut does not have to be short – I use the 6mm comb, but I know others use up to 25mm just to tidy things up.

Second, hair grows at 10mm a month, so if you forget to fit a comb, you will be a baldy for a month or so. Don’t laugh – it has happened to me!

Third, use multiple passes in different directions. Start at the front and cut to the back. Then repeat from the back and each side. It catches most errant wispy hairs. Use the unit without a guide to cut a straight line at the back of the head and around the ears.

Fourth, use a magnifying mirror to see if you have missed any strands. It is easiest if you have a light behind you – a halo effect shows up hairs.

And in this lockdown its perfect for kids, legs, torso, back – anywhere hair grows! And we could extend that to furry pets too!
