Sanyo PDP42XS1

The Sanyo PDP42XS1 has an incredible contrast ratio of 10,000:1. This means that the brightest whites are 10,000 more intense than the darkest blacks. A high contrast ratio is very important for a plasma screen as it gives a more crisp picture and avoids the slightly grey and washed out image of older generation plasma screens.

The PDP42XS1 can’t handle as high a resolution as many other plasma and LCD televisions around this size, with it only supporting up to 852 x 480. This means it must downscale high-definition signals of 576p and above. It also only includes an analog tuner, so you’ll at least need an SD tuner to get the best possible picture.
