Rumour: Is Samsung working on a 5.3 inch phone?

Few smartphones go beyond the de facto 4.5 inch screen size, but we might see one break through this barrier if rumours about a new Samsung device are true.

Expected to be shown one year after the 7 inch Galaxy Tab was announced, the new phone will also double as a tablet, much like the 5 inch Dell Streak was released last year.

Rumours suggest the new handset will feature a 5.3 inch screen with at least 1024 x 600 resolution. Google Android is likely to be the operating system of choice, but whether it’s the mobile phone version or Honeycomb as seen on tablets is anyone’s guess.

Named the Samsung Galaxy Q, it’s expected to be shown in September at Germany’s consumer electronics show, IFA.
