Samsung Galaxy S3: coming on May 31?

One of the hottest phones being talked about at the moment is Samsung’s next flagship handset, the Galaxy S3. While there is no confirmed date, we think something is happening at the end of the month.

This week, journalists received an invitation to an upcoming Samsung event on May 31, a date that sounds very familiar.

Over in the UK, T-Mobile is pushing a release of Samsung’s next flagship on May 30, and given that we’re generally a day ahead thanks to the time zones, this makes the idea that May 31 is the release day for the local S3 highly plausible.

The invite promises “a product that is set to chance the way we interact with technology,” and with Samsung’s initial S3 announcement weeks ago mentioning a natural language recognition system similar to Apple’s Siri, as well as some other cool features, suspect it will be the S3.

As for what telcos will be getting the handset, that’s up in the air at the moment.

With the Galaxy S2, we saw all three of the majors – Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone – grab the rights to it. This year, with the availability of 4G on Telstra, we may actually see a specific LTE version become available on that provider.
