The highly desirable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is open for business from 3 April. And before you get carried away with the svelte style – it costs $2199.
In fact, that is not too bad for the level of tech the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip incorporates – but we always caution against buying version 1.0 of anything.
Garry McGregor, Vice President of IT and Mobile, Samsung Electronics Australia said,
“The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is a statement piece, and we can’t wait to see what Australians do with it.”

What is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip?
It is a 73.6 x 87.4 x 17.3mm x 183g folding phone that opens to reveal a 6.7”, 2360 x 1080 Dynamic AMOLED display.
It is no slouch under the bonnet either with a Qualcomm 855+ SoC, 8/256GB (no microSD) and a surprisingly good dual 12MP+12MP camera. Add to that Samsung Wireless Fast Charge and PowerShare, and it’s a fully-fledged phone.
The hinge allows open (180°), Flex mode (90°) and down to 40°.
Specs
While I don’t want to compare the Motorola Razr (information here) to the Galaxy Z Flip, the specification differences are huge! The Galaxy Flip fits nicely into Samsung’s Galaxy Class with things like a 7nm processor, bigger battery with Wireless and Fast Charge, OIS camera and more. A Galaxy user will be happy with the Z Flip. The price, $2199, it slices the Razr’s price too.

GadgetGuy’s take – Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is the winner in style and specs
This is a folding phone sans compromise. Sure it is expensive, but the statement may be worth the premium.
We have only had a brief hands-on, but we think it is pretty good.
You can see the teardown here.
