Mobile World Congress is next month, and Samsung has let out a hint of what we can expect to see, with a single image suggesting another curved smartphone is on the way.
The preview can be found at Samsung’s Unpacked website, which hints at what the world can expect at the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, and what it looks like might be a continuation of the curved glass screen we saw used in the Galaxy Note Edge.
If that’s the case, what we could be seeing is an announcement of two products that are very similar and yet separated by the screen and design choice, similar to what Samsung showed off in the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, leading an expectation that we’ll see a Samsung Galaxy S6 and a Samsung Galaxy Edge.
You can expect new processors likely running at 64-bit, between 3 and 4GB RAM, and 16 or 32GB storage with microSD slots here, as well as improved cameras and the possibility of a 2560×1440 quadHD display, but on a slightly smaller scale to what was used in the Note 4 and Note Edge. And because both of those models used a hint of metal in their designs, we’re expecting some to be used here, too.
Then there’s that hint in the image for Mobile World Congress, with the suggestion of a curve in at least one model.
It’s a hint that you can see in the outline for the Note Edge, with the thin edge of that model showing a curve from the side, teasing a similar design, though with a timing that lines up with a Galaxy 5 inch flagship, since you get the 5 inch models in the beginning of the year and the larger Note styled models later.
With only a month to go, we’ll all just have to wait to find out what it is, but we’ll have someone on the ground at MWC in Barcelona for the occasion, so stay tuned, especially if you’re currently in the market for a new phone.
