The new Omnia Icon touchscreen phone replaces the Samsung Omnia, and will go on sale in Australia in August 2009. The Omnia Icon runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, and will be able to be upgraded when the latest version of Windows Mobile, v6.5, is released.
The Omia Icon straddles the business and multimedia entertainment worlds, with contacts, email and calendar events handled by connection with the Windows Mobile software, and phone features like inbuilt GPS, music player and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. And for those who like to take pictures and shoot video, the Omnia Icon has a 5 megapixel camera, and the ability to shoot, edit and dub video.
The 3.7 inch AMOLED screen has the twin advantages of being bright and battery-friendly.
It’s still too early to talk about pricing and carrier details, these will be released closer to the launch date.

Still no pricing details, but the Omnia Icon will hit the shelves at Crazy John’s, Optus, Telstra and Vodafone, in September 2009.
