Samsung Unpacked coming in August, what will we see?

Gadget launches are big news, and Samsung is talking up an event happening in August. What could it be?

New York is the place to be mid-August, with Samsung sending out invitations to its next event, the second “Unpacked” event for 2015, with the first happening earlier in the year revealing the curvier Galaxy S6 Edge for the first time.

For that launch, Samsung hinted to the world “what’s next” with a slightly edgy graphic, and this time, there are no words, merely the look of a lip fading off into the distance.

What does this mean?

We doubt this will be a chance for Samsung to show off its tablets, especially since the Tab S2 was recently announced, but the invitation image for the event is a little reminiscent of Joy Division’s “Unknown Pleasures”, albeit with a focus on a product design we’ve seen from Samsung before.

That means we might be seeing something musical or possibly even a new handset similar to the Edge — we told you we’ve seen that design before — though given the close proximity to IFA in September, it could also be a different breed of phone Samsung has a tendency of announcing at that international trade show, which it has done so time and time again.

Regardless, the suggestion is that a product from the “Galaxy” family will definitely be announced, and as rumours are ramping up about a new “Note” handset, we suspect it could be something close to that.

Whatever it is, we’ll have our very own people on the ground for any secret Samsung gadgets that are unveiled that day. We can’t wait.
