Sennheiser – 3D audio is the future – CES 2018

Sennheiser says 3D audio is no gimmick – after all, why shouldn’t sound come from all around as it does in real life?

Unfortunately, revolutions take time, so it has coined the term Ambeo to cover this new technology. GadgetGuy thinks this is one of the future technologies that will fly!

Its initial products are an Ambeo VR microphone the Ambeo SMART HEADSET.

The headset is actually a recording device as well taking binaural sound (from both ears). This is ideal vloggers and content creators, who want to dazzle their audience with audio that is just as immersive as their pictures.

The resulting 3D recordings can be enjoyed through any pair of stereo headphones to make you feel you are actually there listening live. Using Apogee’s proprietary PureDigital technology, the AMBEO SMART HEADSET integrates seamlessly with Apple iOS devices – and, of course, it delivers high-quality Sennheiser sound.

Sennheiser also previewed a new Ambeo 3D sound bar that apparently creates an incredibly immersive sound experience and a true as-if-there feeling without the need for extra speakers or a sub-woofer.

Forbes Magazine said, “The Sennheiser Ambeo Smart Headset are one of the most interesting products I’ve reviewed in years. They’re actually rather hard to categorize. They have three main features, all impressive, so you can’t just call them one thing. They’re noise cancelling, and pretty good at it. They’re a 3D binaural recording system, and pretty good at it. They boost the speech range in noisy environments, so you can better hear your dinner companions in a noisy restaurant, and they’re pretty good at it.”

GadgetGuy will be reviewing this soon.

Closed-back audiophile headphones – HD 820

The closed-back dynamic stereo headphones deliver astoundingly transparent sound from its unique Gorilla glass transducer cover that minimises resonances – an innovation that ensures an incredibly realistic and natural sound field.  The new circumaural dynamic stereo headphones shatter expectations of what was thought possible from a closed-back model and set a new benchmark in sound quality for this type of design.

Axel Grell, Portfolio Management Consumer at Sennheiser, said, “Usually, high-end headphones require an open-back design, which has placed limits on where you can enjoy true audiophile sound. The HD 820 is a game changer that delivers exceptional sound while insulating the listener from their environment. I consider them to be the most transparent-sounding closed-back headphones in the world.”
