Sennheiser at IFA 2019 – Momentum Wireless Headphones, PXC
550-II, AMBEO soundbar EISA award and Global Audio Partner at IFA 2019.
Sennheiser at IFA 2019 was about three iconic products. Its third-generation Momentum audio-specialist wireless headphones, an updated PXC 550-II (my favourite) and EISA recognition for what has become the defining Dolby Atmos soundbar.
Momentum (website here) is reserved for Sennheiser’s superior sound headset range. We will be reviewing it shortly.
It has al the latest smarts – active noise cancellation, transparent hearing, voice assistants, BT 5.0, 6Hz-22kHz, SBC, aptX/Low Latency, and AAC, smart on/off all wrapped in a genuine leather head strap and premium earcups. Plus it now has an inbuilt Tile Bluetooth tracker.
Sennheiser PXC 550-II $549.95 – an improvement on travel perfection
The PXC 550 has been my travel companion for many years. I
did not care that it did not have a voice assistant, BT 5.0, and hi-res codecs.
It had a killer battery life and a USB DAC that allows playing and charging
over USB cable at the same time – almost unique.
The PXC-550-II (website here) has kept all the good bits and added even more
20/30-hour wireless/wired battery on a three-hour
110dB SPL volume
BT 5.0 SBC, aptX/Low Latency, AAC
3 mics (with noise-cancelling
Fold up and fold-out power on
Sennheiser AMBEO wins EISA Award 2019-2020 in the “Premium Soundbar” category
The EISA Award citation praised the AMBEO Soundbar for its perfect combination of speaker and microphone technology:
“With its debut soundbar, Sennheiser has effectively rewritten the immersive audio rulebook. Handling Dolby Atmos and DT S:X, and introducing proprietary AMBEO 3D up–mixing for stereo and 5.1 content, this large-scale one-box system ensures an enveloping, cinematic performance from any source.
Its 13 drivers, including six 4in woofers and twin up-firing units, work to create an astonishingly realistic soundstage with crisp highs and room-shaking bass, while Sennheiser’s microphone-assisted room calibration results in a precise presentation.
Three HDMI inputs, an eARC-enabled output, plus Bluetooth, Chromecast and networking talents allow the AMBEO Soundbar to become your system hub, and the companion smartphone app makes it easy to use. Most importantly, once heard it’s never forgotten…”
GadgetGuy thinks it is amazing to awarding 4.7/5 for its review – remarkable sound.
