Telstra, Domino’s make Facebook the new way to pay

Forget logging on to separate websites to order a pizza or add money to your prepaid mobile service, as Facebook could be the place where you make your purchases in the near future.

Telstra and Domino’s Pizza certainly see a market here, as the two companies have each come up with applications allowing you to procure services using your Facebook account.

If you’re a Telstra mobile subscriber with a prepaid account, the company has this week unveiled a Facebook app that lets you check your balance and recharge quickly without having to touch your phone.

“We know our Pre-Paid customers love spending time connecting with friends on Facebook,” said Warwick Bray, Telstra Mobile’s Executive Directory. “We also know they find running out of credit a hassle. So we’re introducing the My Telstra Pre-Paid Facebook app which lets customers track their mobile balance, recharge their service and view usage history from one of the most popular places on the web.”

Meanwhile, pizza lovers now get the option of ordering meals from Domino’s from a Facebook app, provided you “like” the app.

The service offers you an easy interface to grab pizza via pick-up or delivery similar to how the services function in the available Android and iOS apps.

The only catch with these services is that you may not be able to use them some places. If your workplace has a “no Facebook” social media policy, you may have to recharge your credit and order pizza without touching the social networking giant.
