Toshiba fire a price shot in the HD format war

12 October 2007

Today Toshiba Australia responds to the building momentum for high definition (HD) technology by announcing significant price drops for its entire range of HD DVD players. The price of both the Toshiba HD-E1 and HD-EP10 players offers a $100 cashback following purchase. Consumers can visit the Toshiba website to register their details for the cashback offer and current title redemption promotion.

?This pricing announcement demonstrates our commitment to the HD DVD format and desire to see Australians experiencing the benefits of high definition entertainment in their own living rooms,? said Mark Whittard, General Manager at Toshiba Australia.  ?Toshiba?s line-up of HD DVD players consists of three options for the consumer providing cutting-edge functionality and a range of viewing features to suit every need.?

With support from major Hollywood studios, including Universal, Warner Bros and the recently exclusive Paramount, Toshiba will continue its current in-store title redemption promotion. The promotion, which offers up to six free HD DVD films with every Toshiba HD DVD player purchased, means it?s simple to bring the pure intensity of HD into every home.
