The good news for anyone with a high definition television and corresponding set-top-box is that most of the highest rating shows are in HD, and even many of those that are not can still be viewed in 16:9 widescreen.

What a lot of viewers don?t know is that each of the networks, whether free to air or public access such as SBS and the ABC, have special digital channels and, in the case of the free-to-air networks, they are being used to trial HD services and many of the extras that go with digital television.
