These days, small personal possessions aren’t enough. We have to think big. So big, that some people are trying to claim ownership of stars.
One such person is Angeles Duran from Gallicia in Spain, who now apparently owns the Sun.
Just like that.
After checking in with a notary public in September, Duran received a document stating that she was the “owner of the Sun” and that it was “located at an average distance from Earth of about 149,600,000 kilometres.”
But it doesn’t stop there. The new owner wants to charge us for our use of the Sun.
According to a report filed by the Agence France-Presse, Angeles Duran will charge people using the sun and give 50 percent to the Spanish government, 20 percent to the Spanish pension fund,10 percent to research, 10 percent to ending world hunger, and keep the remaining 10 percent.
We can’t wait for the “Sun usage” bills to start rolling in and the immense laughter to be sent back.
