Rumour: Apple to release iPad 3 in February?

The Apple iPad 2.

The rumour-mill doesn’t stop for the holidays, in fact it never really stops at all. The latest rumour we’ve got suggests that Apple is looking at a February 2012 release for the iPad 3, with a focus on the birthday of one of the company’s founders.

Apple’s next iPad is rumoured to feature a high-resolution “retina” grade screen, similar to what was introduced in the iPhone 4 over a year go.

Sources are telling us that Apple is telling its suppliers to push hard through the next few months, with an eye for late February.

Steve Jobs – one of the founders of Apple and who recently passed away – was born on February 24, 1955, and there are some who think that Apple is looking at this date for the next iPad announcement.

Normally, Apple has released iPad models in late March, so a month difference isn’t too huge a leap here.

That said, this is all rumour and speculation so take it with a grain of salt.
