World Backup Day tip: plug in that camera pronto

With World Backup Day happening on Sunday, it’s time to look at your storage situation and do the right thing, starting with a tip for anyone who owns a camera.

We’re going to have to assume that means everyone, since kids, parents, grandparents, and practically anyone that has ever wanted to take a photograph in the past five years has owned one, so everyone, listen up.

You know those memory cards that you browse through every time you pick up that camera?

Well they can degrade over time, and eventually, memory cards in cameras can fail, so before that happens, plug your camera or card into your computer – using either the USB cable for your camera or a card through a card reader – and backup the images every few months.

If you haven’t backed up in a while, now – this weekend – is the perfect time, just in case something happens.
