ZTE goes two-faced at CES 2018

ZTE has previewed the amazing Axon M – a double screen, foldable smartphone that has two 5.2” IPS, HD screens covered in tough Gorilla Glass 5.

The screens work in dual mode (two different images or apps), extended mode for a mini-tablet, mirror mode (tent style for sharing) and offers more flexibility (excuse the pun) and screen real estate than any other smartphone today.

Specifications wise it has a 2.5GHz Qualcomm 821 Snapdragon, 4GB RAM/64GB storage/microSD and OTG, 3180- mAh battery and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3, dual hi-fi Dolby Atmos speakers, and a Sony based 20MP, f/1.8, PADF camera. All this is in a 12.2mm thick case weighing 230g – not much more than a single screened smartphone.

The Axon M transforms the mobile experience by providing consumers with true multitasking capabilities and unlimited potential in how they connect to the world around them.  ZTE has created an entirely new foldable smartphone category and with true ZTE style have designed a fully functional phone for the future.

GadgetGuy’s take

I want an “M” – the first revolution in smartphone glass slab design in years.

ZTE’s amazingly high specified and low-cost Axon 7  received GadgetGuy’s seal of approval scoring a near perfect five out of five.

ZTE has become a bit of a rebel showing the smartphone industry what is possible now at prices that are well below the flagship brands.

Jeff Yee, Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategy at ZTE Mobile Devices, addressed CES to discuss the smartphone industry and new trends that have become the norm. These trends include bendable displays, face recognition, bezel-less and button-less screens, and how each new smartphone launch promises a user interface to outdo the last.

ZTE has been in Australia since 2004 and until recently been better “unknown” as the white label supplier of handsets and mobile modems to many Telcos .
