Humanoid robots were a big part of CES 2026, along with the promise that they’ll take care of our household chores. LG had CLOiD, a robot that looks like a more modern version of Rosey from The Jetsons.
Built with two arms and a body stationed on a wheel base akin to a robot vacuum, CLOiD is designed to act as your personal butler. It uses AI technology to recognise its surroundings and accept verbal instructions, like folding your laundry or placing a meal in the oven. This technology also gives CLOiD more ‘personality’, with LG adding a visual display, so it looks like the robot is blinking and responding to your presence.
Like a lot of things at CES, it might be a while until we see such robots in our homes. But, after seeing CLOiD up close, it’s clear that this is a direction that smart home brands are pushing towards in the coming years.
Valens Quinn attended CES 2026 as a guest of Samsung, LG, Hisense, Belkin, Ecovacs, Asus, TP-Link, Reolink, Roborock, and Aiper.
