Ahead of the big IFA tech expo in Berlin next month, LG has teased the future of its home appliances, ranging from fridges for tight spaces to improved all-in-one laundry appliances.
Included in the upcoming range are various French door and bottom freezer fridges, and a washing machine combined with a heat pump dryer.
Given that IFA is a European tech expo, a lot of LG’s talking points centred on how its new appliances fit into European homes. There was mention of how the brand’s new fridges meet the top tier of the European Union’s energy rating system, for example.
But, as usual, what gets shown at big events like IFA and CES eventually makes its way to Australia. So stay tuned for how LG’s appliances fare when subjected to local energy ratings.
Relevant to a more global audience was what LG calls the “Zero Clearance Hinge”. The design of its new fridges lets the doors open at a 110-degree angle in minimal space. LG claims the doors open fully, even if the appliance sits directly up against a wall.
Every tech company’s favourite two-letter acronym, ‘AI’, also featured heavily throughout LG’s upcoming home appliance range. Its fridges reportedly use AI to track door-opening habits to then adjust temperature settings accordingly.
All the while, LG’s laundry appliances, headlined by the two-in-one WashCombo, continue using AI in familiar ways. Instead of needing to guess the best settings, the appliance detects the weight and fabrics of each load, and then customises the washing and drying cycles.
LG hasn’t confirmed any Australian release dates or prices for the new home appliances yet. Typically, devices shown at IFA launch in the following months, although 2026 would be most likely for Australia.
