Recently, I have been upgrading my gaming PC setup, purchasing some new speakers, a large mousepad and of course a new curved monitor. I’m always looking to improve the look or the functionality of the setup with any tech I feel may enhance my experience.

One issue I always had was lighting. Typically, lamps don’t work so well with a gaming computer, as they are both blocked by the monitor and very directional with the light they emit.

Fortunately, I recently tested out a good alternative: a Quntis monitor light bar. Now, truth be told, I never really considered a monitor light bar as an option. I figure light bars are strictly for flat monitors. How wrong I was. Quntis has a Curved Monitor Light Bar that is actually perfect for what I need.

Curve and fit

There are so many great things about this rather inexpensive $99 monitor light bar, yet I have to start with the curved form factor. It’s important as the vast majority of monitor light bars are indeed flat. This light bar is made of two foldable arms that are themselves curved. Each of the arms pivots from the middle, where the light bar mounts on top of the monitor. This is genius as it allows for adjustments to fit monitors with different curves. From my testing, I would think this light bar would work for almost every curved monitor on the market.

As luck has it, I am running a 32-inch curved Alienware gaming monitor, and the Quntis light bar fits it perfectly. As you can see, it’s a large light bar spanning almost the whole width of my rather large monitor. The base of the light is also very sturdy. It includes a small front lip to be placed in the middle of your monitor, along with an adjustable arm that folds in two places to secure the light. It also has a nice grippy back that is sure to keep it in place even through the most over-the-top gaming rage outbursts.

Remote and light options

The setup is very simple with just one power cable to plug in. The light bar also comes with a handy touch remote that just needs a few AA batteries to power. I love this little thing. It looks cool, and you can position it wherever you like. The remote is also much more than just a simple power button. There are lots of fun features like adjustable brightness and colour temperature. The auto dimmer switch is one of my favourites. With this feature switched on, the light will automatically dim in brighter conditions and brighten in darker conditions. Super handy.

The Quntis light bar also includes back lighting. This essentially shines a light on the wall behind your monitor, creating a warm and inviting environment. Once again, this can easily be turned off with a touch of a button. Personally, I am a bit of a creature of habit. I have a preferred setting, and I leave it on that 90% of the time. I simply turn the light on when I need it, and off when I’m done.

Tech specs and glare-free design

The Quntis light claims to have 480-lumen ultra-bright lighting with a colour range of 3000K~ 6500K. The overall width of the light bar is approximately 66cm, fitting anything from a 27-inch monitor, all the way to 34 inches and probably more.

I also like the light bar’s clever asymmetrical light design that directly lights within a 45-degree angle at your desk. In a practical sense, this means that it provides very even lighting to your desktop with great coverage that eliminates shadows.

Quntis was also recently recognised by the 2025 International Design Awards (IDA) for how its design tackles eye strain and limited desk space; two things I’ve found to ring true in my testing.

Should you get one?

I really love this light. It’s one of those products I didn’t know I needed until I had one. It’s a great solution to help light your desk without adding monitor glare or big shadows.
