Australians can try out the upcoming range of Roborock lawnmowers early as part of a “LawnLab” trial to test the brand’s robots in local conditions.
Roborock previously announced the RockMow and RockNeo automated mowers at IFA this year, alongside a new range of indoor cleaning appliances. Motorised wheels were touted as one of the big selling points, able to power up steep, hilly terrain.
At the time, Roborock didn’t confirm when its robotic mowers would launch in Australia. Now, it appears to be gearing up for a local release, opening expressions of interest for a local beta program.
Detailed on the robotic brand’s website, the LawnLab program involves testing a prototype mower and reporting feedback to Roborock. As further explained in the program’s submission form, those selected to participate get a “complimentary trial” of the device.
It’s not clear whether the mower — the exact model is unspecified — goes back to Roborock following the trial. However, beta testers get “an opportunity to join [Roborock’s] long-term tester or co-creation community”.
Prospective participants are asked to take photos or a video of their lawn ahead of time. Presumably, it’s so that Roborock can select multiple different yard types for its trial. The accompanying survey is quite detailed, including questions about location, mowing habits, and lawnmower preferences.
Submissions for the Roborock LawnLab program in Australia are open now until 20 December 2025. Testers chosen to join the program will then find out via email by 31 December.
It’s an interesting way to approach a new market for Roborock. Several competitors already have a foothold in Australia, including Husqvarna and Ecovacs, so there’s likely strong motivation to get the robot mowers right the first time.
