As a two-in-one tablet and stylus combo, the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite might be able to crack the affordable end of the Android tablet market.
If you’re wondering where the Lite versions of the Tab S9, S8 and so on have been, you’re not hallucinating. Samsung has hung onto the Tab S6 Lite name for a while, instead updating Australia with the likes of the Tab S10 FE and Tab A9+ models in recent years.
Looking at the here and now, the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite is a tablet with a 10.9-inch display. Samsung doesn’t specify the exact type of display technology used, although at $599, it’s unlikely to be the AMOLED featured throughout the core Galaxy Tab S10 range.
Aimed at students as a versatile study and entertainment device, the $599 Galaxy Tab S10 Lite is considerably cheaper than the $849 S10 FE model. Samsung also bundles an S Pen stylus with the tablet, which isn’t a common tablet inclusion.
On the inside, the tablet comes in two configurations: one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and a model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both variants use Samsung’s in-house Exynos 1380 chipset, along with an 8,000mAh battery.
Although Samsung didn’t use its heavily advertised ‘Galaxy AI’ label in its announcement, the cheaper tablet does contain plenty of AI features. Marketed as helping solve maths equations and arranging handwritten notes, the tablet also includes Google’s AI assistive features, like Circle to Search. Samsung also mentioned a ‘Galaxy AI Key’ on the separately sold Book Cover Keyboard as a shortcut to these features.
Arriving in Australia on 26 September, the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite comes in three colours. All stockists get Grey, while Silver and Coral Red are exclusive to Samsung’s online store.
