Ever since the NBN speed upgrade took effect in September, there’s been plenty of competition between telcos trying to outprice each other on fast internet. It’s good news for customers, with new deals popping up every week, helping make monthly internet bills more affordable.
The latest deal comes from SpinTel, who currently offers its NBN 500 plan at an introductory discounted price of $73 per month. That’s down from the regular $86.95 monthly pricing for the first six months.
$73 is what you pay if you go through SpinTel directly. If you click on the WhistleOut widget below, you can get the telco’s NBN 500 plan for an even cheaper monthly rate of $64. More than $120 off six months of high-speed internet is a pretty good deal.
$64 per month is one of the current cheapest NBN 500 plans, providing a good opportunity to try out a different telco. One of the best ways to save money on internet is to shop around every six months once the promotional discounts end. Most telcos don’t sell lock-in contracts, so it’s easy to make the switch when a better deal comes around.
Keep in mind that you need either a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or a Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connection to get NBN 500 speeds. Otherwise, your maximum theoretical download speeds are 100Mbps. The good news is that a fibre upgrade is free for most households, and that NBN 500 plans cost the same as their NBN 100 counterparts.
