Normally, steam-powered appliances attract a far higher price tag than their non-steam counterparts. That’s the case with the impressive Tineco Floor One S9 Artist Steam (quite the name!), which costs $1,499, more than most of the range’s sub-$1,000 price. Making steam cleaning a bit more affordable, Tineco now has the cheaper Floor One S7 Stretch Steam wet-dry vacuum.
At $1,199, it’s still pricier than most wet-dry vacuums, but the $300 difference between the S7 Stretch Steam and the S9 variant is nothing to sneeze at. On paper, it’s very similar to the more expensive model. Both vacuum using up to 22,000Pa of suction power, have 140°C steam cleaning capabilities, can lie 180 degrees flat, and employ a speedy hot water and air self-cleaning cycle.
Actually, the S7 Stretch Steam comes with an advertised runtime of 80 minutes, slightly edging out the S9’s 75-minute battery life. Some of that extended battery efficiency might come from not having the same dynamic display as the S9 Artist model. The S7 still has what Tineco calls an “iLoop” sensor, giving you real-time information about how dirty your floors are, so you’re not left completely out of the… loop.
Designed to clean hard floors, the steam technology aims to clean up crusted-on messes and kill bacteria all at once. The idea is that steam does a deeper and more hygienic clean than a bit of water and cleaning solution.
Pre-orders for the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam are live now, with availability expected in early November. On top of Tineco’s online store, the new wet-dry vac will be stocked at major appliance retailers, including JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman. Anyone who buys the appliance between now and 18 November can redeem a free Tineco Go Mini Pet Hand Vacuum valued at $199.
