A little while ago, we reviewed the Uniden App Cam Solo X2K, a security camera that does a lot for its $149 asking price. More recently, I took a closer look at one of its main features: Thermo Sense.

While smart security cameras have improved in this regard, they can still be prone to false alerts. A tree branch swaying in the breeze or a bug flying past the lens; sometimes, these can activate a camera’s motion sensor, sending your phone an alert unnecessarily.

Uniden’s X2K camera, on the other hand, has a heat sensor, so it can better track people and ignore motion from other sources. I also like that it supports both local and cloud-based storage, including seven days of free rolling cloud storage. It’s rare that you see any level of ongoing free cloud storage in smart home devices these days.
