Want a video game console with your new phone? That’s what Vodafone is angling for by offering a PlayStation 5 as a pre-order deal with the new Google Pixel 10 Pro XL.
More specifically, it’s the digital version of the console, meaning it doesn’t come with a disc drive. That means any games need to be bought and downloaded via the PlayStation Store. Alternatively, you can always add a disc drive later, which costs $124 from retailers like JB Hi-Fi.
If you’re hoping to snag a PS5 with the rest of the Pixel 10 range, you’re out of luck. Vodafone’s pre-order deal only applies to the top-of-the-line Pro XL model, which starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model.
The other caveat to the Vodafone deal is that you need to order the Pixel 10 Pro XL by 27 August 2025 on an eligible plan. That includes either a 12, 24, or 36-month commitment, where you pay for the cost of the phone in monthly instalments with the price of the plan.
At the moment, Vodafone’s cheapest eligible plan costs a discounted $39 per month, down from $53. Inclusive of a monthly 60GB data allocation, the discounted rate applies for the length of the commitment (either 12, 24, or 36 months). Afterwards, the plan reverts to the full monthly price of $53.
Unlike Telstra and Optus, which are offering device discounts as part of their Pixel 10 deals, Vodafone doesn’t include any discounts on the handset. In other words, the $749.95 PS5 is the main carrot on the end of the stick here.
As for the phone, the main thing separating the Pixel 10 Pro XL from the rest of the range (other than its size) is its 25W wireless charging speeds. Google’s new phones all benefit from ‘Pixelsnap’, a magnetic technology similar to Apple MagSafe. Other than that, most of the changes come in the form of a brighter screen, a more durable design, and loads of new AI features.
