A Nintendo Switch 2 will be one of the hottest commodities ahead of Christmas this year. Since its launch in June, Nintendo’s latest gaming console has smashed sales records, with no signs of slowing down.
However, it also leans towards the pricey side. $699.95 for the console alone, or $769.95 for the Mario Kart World bundle, is expensive. Fortunately, nearly every major Australian retailer looks set to discount the Nintendo Switch 2 by $50 during the Black Friday sales. It’s not quite as deep a discount as the Afterpay Day deal in August, but that sale had extremely limited stock.
As spotted by Nintendo community news site Vooks, Big W was the first retailer to confirm the discount. It was originally meant to start on 20 November and end on 3 December, but the sale went live early, with Amazon preemptively price-matching the deal. If you’re keen to get a Nintendo Switch 2 as a Christmas present, Black Friday seems to be the time to act.

These prices are correct at the time of writing, but don’t be surprised if there’s a bit of movement once all the major retailers start pushing their Black Friday deals.
Slowly but surely, the Switch 2’s library of exclusive games is starting to build nicely. Mario Kart World was a hit at launch, followed soon after by the brilliant Donkey Kong Banaza. More recently, Pokémon Legends: Z-A made a splash, joined by Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, while Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4 are just around the corner.
