Alcatel has confirmed that all its 2018 smartphones will now be in the 18:9 format or Univisium as it is called which attempts to unify all future theatrical and television movies into one respective aspect ratio.
Alcatel, owned by TCL, has become the outright purchase and pre-paid winner in Australia offering a range of inexpensive yet fully featured Android smartphones from as little as A$39.
Alcatel will be one of the first smartphone line-ups to deliver an immersive 18:9 display experience as standard across three new product series that continues its commitment to deliver flagship style and features to mid and entry-level price-point options.

With this portfolio evolution, Alcatel will also standardise the use of panel manufacturing across the entire product portfolio by utilising Alcatel FullView 18:9 displays. As a top-three LCD panel maker worldwide, TCL will provide the Alcatel business unit with access to critical manufacturing efficiencies and billions of dollars in research and development, ensuring considerable cost savings and faster time to market for upcoming devices.
Alcatel’s 2018 product line-up can be categorised into three distinct series, each one representing a different pricing tier. These series maintain a flagship look and feel across the board to ensure all users will have the same sense of pride of ownership and include:
ALCATEL 5 SERIES
Representing Alcatel’s affordable premium tier of smartphones, The Alcatel 5 Series is designed to deliver the best possible features consumers want at a cost that’s much lower than comparable flagships. This will include offering features like face unlock, Alcatel FullView 18:9 display and more.
