Philips 21:9 screen to get the 3D treatment

One of our favourite TVs – the Philips Cinema 21:9 – looks to be getting a little bit more than just the glowing Ambilight, with a new version playing 3D content.

It’s still the same aspect ratio with glowing frame from the original 21:9 screen, except now the panel has been updated to show a 3D picture (provided you’vegot the 3D Blu-ray player, new HDMI 1.4 cable, 3D glasses, and content.)
Sadly, Philips Australia told us today that “Currently there no plans to launch the 3D version of 21:9 in Australia,” forcing new buyers of this screen to either choose the original 21:9 for its size and picture quality or a 3D screen from a different brand.
