Affordable Nokia C32 phone arrives in Australia

Nokia C32 Australia launch

A 50MP camera is one of the major features of the Nokia C32, the first in HMD Global’s C-series of phones with a camera of this quality. After its initial announcement at MWC 2023, the phone is now out in Australia for $249.

Sandwiched in between the repairable Nokia G22 and entry-level C22 phones, the Nokia C32 is built to be an affordable and durable device with a camera that punches above its price point. Although not a selling point you often see from new hardware, it also doesn’t carry much in the way of bloatware, unnecessary software that clogs up some new devices.

Nokia C32: a bigger camera and a tough glass finish

On the outside, the Nokia C32 brandishes a 6.5-inch HD+ display (720×1600 resolution) surrounded by a tough glass material designed for toughness. Flip the phone around and you’ll see a 50MP main camera alongside a 2MP secondary lens. For selfies, there’s an 8MP front-facing camera, and a dedicated night mode reportedly helps properly expose subjects in low-light situations. As far as durability is concerned, the phone has an IP52 rating, meaning a decent level of dust resistance and splash resistance.

Inside the phone is an octa-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 1.6GHz, in addition to 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. If you need more than 64GB, you can add up to 256GB using a Micro SD card. Like many current phones, the Nokia C32 includes a 5000mAh battery which should last you a good couple of days depending on use.

It also ships with the Android 13 operating system out of the box, along with features like the ability to easily copy and paste content between devices. HMD Global has committed to two years of quarterly security updates, although we’re unsure about how many OS updates are on the way.

As part of the budget-premium aesthetic the Nokia C32 strives for, there are three two-toned colours to choose from. Charcoal, Autumn Green, and Beach Pink are the colours available from various retailers, including the official Nokia store.
