Foxtel, Telstra work together to bring Presto to T-Box

If you know someone with a Telstra T-Box, you might want to spend more time at their place in the next six months, because whether they know it or not, they’ve got free TV and movies.

The world of streaming media is about to heat up well and truly, with Netflix launching this week, and now Foxtel and Telstra chiming in to say that the Presto service will be available to all T-Box owners, with a six month subscription to the streaming media service for all new and existing customers.

That means if you currently have a Telstra T-Box, you’ll find a six month subscription available to you for Foxtel’s Presto service, provided you activate the subscription before the end of June 30 this year.

“We think Presto has the strongest range of TV and movies compared to its subscription video on demand competitors and that’s why we’re so excited to be making it available to hundreds of thousands of T-Box owners around Australia,” said Eric Kearley, Director Pay TV and IPTV at Telstra.

Aside for the free half year of service for existing and new subscribers, the downloads for Presto on the T-Box won’t be countered and will be unmetered, so you can watch movies and TV shows on the service without the fear that it will destroy the available downloads you have on your broadband plan.

From what we understand, the Presto subscription being offered to Telstra T-Box customers will be across both the Presto TV and Presto Movies packages, but after the six month trial is over, Presto will start charging, with individual packages chiming in at $9.99 per month, or together at $14.99 per month.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer our T-Box customers a bonus 6-month subscription when they sign up for Presto,” said Kearley. “It’s as easy as visiting channel 911 on your T-Box and following the steps to redeem the offer.”
