iTunes Australia gets more sex, laughs and bada bing

The Australian iTunes store has been very much the ugly sister as far as video content goes – we often look on enviously as we read about the mighty range of offerings on the US store.

Well today, there’s a little – just a little – less envy. As of now some of the best shows of recent years, like The Sopranos, Sex and the City, True Blood, and Flight of the Conchords all from Home Box Office (HBO) are now downloadable from the Australian iTunes store.

These shows from HBO joins programming from local providers including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Nine Network, Network TEN and Movie Extra, along with US-produced programs from The Walt Disney Company’s ABC Studios, Disney Channel, Twentieth Century FOX, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures Television and MTV Networks.

Other downloadable shows on the Australian iTunes store include Underbelly 2: A Tale of Two Cities, Summer Heights High, McLeod’s Daughters, Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, Lost, The Hills, House, Mad Men and Family Guy.

Pricing and device compatibility

Television shows purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Store can be viewed on a Mac or PC, iPod nano with video, iPod classic, iPod touch, fifth generation iPod, iPhone or on a widescreen TV with Apple TV.

Episodes are priced at $2.99.
