Sony to give two PS3 games, two PSP games free in “Welcome Back” pack

With the return of the PlayStation Network service, gamers are beginning to have smiles plastered back on their faces. Now Sony has unveiled what it will be offering for free to gamers, and we’re betting that smile will get bigger.

Sony is letting you choose two free titles for download from a selection of five for the PlayStation 3:

  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Infamous
  • Wipeout HD/Fury
  • Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
  • Dead Nation

If you own a PlayStation Portable, you’ll also get to grab two titles from a selection of four:

  • LittleBigPlanet PSP
  • ModNation PSP
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation

There’s only one stipulation for the freebies: you had to have a PlayStation Network account on or before April 20, 2011.

If you bought a PlayStation between April 20 and today, apparently you miss out. Likewise, if you bought one from today and onwards, there’ll be no free games for you.

Some us are questioning the selection of games as being poor, especially since most of these titles are well over a year old and are probably owned by many PlayStation gamers.

Hopefully there’s something for you here and, if not, Sony is also offering a free 30 day subscription to the PlayStation Plus service (or 60 days free for customers already subscribed).

One thing to keep in mind, however, is the time requirement associated with this “Welcome Back” pack: 30 days. That is, when the PlayStation Network store return – hopefully within the next week or two – you’ll have 30 days to grab your free titles.
