The new Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5” has the Galaxy heritage and build but at a more affordable price.

Samsung also launched its Galaxy Tab S4 10.5” (GadgetGuy article here) that is billed as the supreme Android Tablet. But what if you don’t need supreme? Will you settle for damned good?

It saves money via acceptable compromises (compared to the Galaxy Tab S4)

  • Mid-range Qualcomm 450 eight-core 1.8GHz processor
  • 3GB/32GB storage and microSD to 400GB
  • 8MP, f/1.9. AF, LED flash rear camera and 5MP, f/2.2 front

In other words, it is a Galaxy quality, entry-level device. It is quite a step up from last year’s 8.0” models.

The Galaxy Tab A 10.5” is a content consumption device. Watch movies, play games, listen to music or browse content. Its four speakers with Dolby Atmos support make it great for mobile entertainment.

It has parental controls to manage content and usage time with Kids Mode. This has Kids Browser, Galaxy Apps for Kids and eight free child-friendly apps from family favourite brands including Toca Hair Salon 3 and BRIO World – Railway. There is also a Multi-User Mode to create multiple accounts.

Samsung’s Always On Daily Board feature brings daily information to one easy-to-view home hub including a clock, calendar and weather updates as well as a digital photo library. It also supports Smart Things to control a connected home.

“We are proud to announce the Galaxy Tab A 10.5”. It is Samsung’s latest addition to the tablet lineup with capabilities that make life easier, and more entertaining for the whole family,” said Jason Lee, Director and Head of Tablet Product Strategy Group at Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

“Featuring a refreshed design, enhanced parental controls and new home connectivity capabilities, the Galaxy Tab A 10.5’’ is the perfect complement for the modern household.”

GadgetGuy’s take. No everyone can afford a Galaxy Tab S4 – nor do they need it. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 is for us all
