CES 2023 AMD: powerful new Ryzen 7000 series CPUs incoming

CES 2023 AMD Ryzen 9 CPU

Another year, another round of beefy processors from AMD. As part of the CES 2023 AMD announcements, the prominent chip maker revealed its latest range of 7000 series CPUs spanning desktop and laptop devices. The reveals came alongside a keynote presentation at the annual tech trade show.

CES 2023 AMD: More powerful Ryzen 7000 CPUs

Headlining the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000 range are multiple new desktop CPUs that utilise the AMD Socket AM5 platform. This platform includes increased PCIe 5 lanes, enabling further GPU and storage options for pushing your rig to the max.

Three new Ryzen X3D processors

Aimed at high-end gaming and content creation, the new X3D processors, led by the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, introduce AMD 3D V-Cache tech. Essentially, this means there’s the capacity to stack additional cache memory onto the processor when needed.

AMD testing suggests these chips wield up to 14% faster performance than the previous generation. No pricing details just yet, but with a February launch window slated, expect to see more details soon.

Updated Ryzen 9, 7, and 5 models

Built using the Zen 4 architecture, these chips are said to be optimised for efficiency and performance, featuring a power consumption of 65W TDP. AMD also mentions you can get an instant overclocking boost of up to 39% with the Ryzen 9 7900 CPU by using Precision Boost Overdrive and water cooling.

We’ve only got US pricing so far, but these chips are due out starting 10 January.
