Cyber Security Week Tip: Solid passwords

This week, we’re all about good cyber security practices, and one of the best ways to stay safe is to make sure your passwords are solid.

How do you do this?

Typically, a good password should be a minimum of 6-8 characters with a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

So a password that might have been:

johnd1988

could also be

J0hnD!988

Comparitech.com has a password tester available for you test out your passwords.

If you throw in the above passwords, you’ll find that the first one is so basic, it has “weak” security, while the second passes with “strong” security.

Remember that your password still has to be easy enough for you to remember, so pick something you may already be using and try replacing characters that look similar, such as a zero for an “O” and the at-sign “@” for the letter “a”.
