Samsung: no Galaxy S3 at Mobile World Congress

There are many who say that Mobile World Congress in February is the next big place to go, showing the mobile devices that didn’t launch at CES this year. According to new information, however, the follow-up to the Galaxy S2 won’t be one of those.

Earlier today, Samsung America released a statement declaring:

“The successor to the Galaxy S II smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”

Despite this, Samsung promised that it “is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012.”

We can probably expect some phones sitting in the “Galaxy” brand from this at the event in a few weeks, but as for an S3, that’s looking unlikely.
