The future is coming: here’s a jetpack to prove it

“This was supposed to be the future,” our t-shirt says. “Where is my jetpack?” It’s a question we’ve often asked ourselves, especially as buses, taxis, and trains often get us to our destinations late and bewildered.

Now it looks like the jetpack is finally coming.

Developed by Martin Aircraft in New Zealand, the Martin Jetpack is being built with two fans and an engine to provide vertical takeoff and landing, as well as flight.

In fact, the company has even released computer animated video showing how it could be used.

We can think of some pretty cool ideas that we could use it for too – like having the best entrance to a party ever – but at $100,000 (plus delivery) and a hopeful release date of 2013, we’ll probably stick to taking the bus for the moment.
