LG launches the first dual-core smartphone

The new year hasn’t even started and LG is making headlines, launching the world’s first dual-core smartphone.

Powered by the fast 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, LG’s Optimus 2X is expected to leapfrog the competition with a treasure trove of features, such as Full HD 1080p recording and playback, a 4-inch screen, a rear 8 megapixel camera, 8GB memory, large 1500 mAh battery, and even HDMI.

Android 2.2 will be the operating system of choice when it launches early 2011, but LG has promised that the Optimus 2X will be upgradeable to the new Android 2.3 further down the track.
