Instagram adds video… because why not

There are staffers here that aren’t ashamed to use Instagram, the vintage inspired social snapper designed for Android and iOS devices, making it possible to share memories with a look like that of yesteryear. Now, Instagram is adding video, making it possible to make those memories more than just single frames.

Updating across both Google’s and Apple’s mobile app stores this week, Instagram’s video update makes it possible to shoot and quickly edit up to 15 seconds of footage and share it with friends.

The hallmark of Instagram – retro effects – is still here, and Instagram users will be able to pick one of 13 filters, designed for video and making the tiny movie feel more like watching an old 8mm or Super8 piece.

If the update hasn’t rolled to your Instagram, give it time, as there are 130 million Instagram users to update, and this could take some time.

Meanwhile, if you’re keen to see what all the fuss is about, the app is online now and is compatible across iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, as well as recent Android smartphones.
